BUILDING INFORMATION MODELLING
By using Building Information Modeling technology, we are able to provide project managers with a variety of detailed information concerning their particular scheme.
The building lifecycle can be depicted from the initial concept design right through to the final construction stage, showing how the facility will operate in terms of function, zoning and special qualities and planning.
It is possible to carry out element collision checking with the use of additional BIM models, including structural engineering design data, mechanical & electrical engineer design data and component design by manufacturers. This can be combined within a central project model for clash detection to be performed.
By doing this, all plans, elevations, sections and three-dimensional views are immediately available and accurate.
Building Information Modeling can also be used to determine the ecological impact of a building during the design stage. The model will allow project managers to ensure the building’s green features are all fully optimised which can include the best orientation for solar gain and correct amount of insulation for example, which informs green design of any environmental design systems produced by engineers as part of the collective project modelIf necessary, the model can be used to produce a solar study or thermal analysis animation.
The technology will create a neat and accurate model from something as simple as a 2D CAD drawing or even a hand drawn sketch. It is only necessary to draw an item once within the model as the software is clever enough to acknowledge a change in floor plan, such as the location of a door, and three-dimensionally coordinate this across the model
