Project Overview
This project at Jalan Puncak Borneo is located 18 km from Kuching City. It was initiated by the Jawatankuasa Masjid Baru Kpg Sri Arjuna as the existing Masjid is too small.
The new mosque is to be built on a cut ground covering a site area of about 0.4 acre (1,680 sq meter) located next to the existing mosque.
The new mosque with a 22.5m by 22.5m prayer hall can accommodate about 600 people at one time. It has a 2-tier pitch roof typical of Javanese architecture, portraying the culture of the population staying within the vicinity. It is an open concept with entrances from three sides all with foldable sliding doors
Due to funding constraint, the project will be implemented in 2 phases, Phase 1 to cater to the immediate need for a bigger mosque. Decorative features and an Ablution block will be constructed at a later stage.
The mosque committee has appointed HAPM as a project management consultant to lead a team of consultants which consists of Jusa Architects Sdn Bhd, Concept-P Jurutera Sdn Bhd, Perunding MALCA Sdn Bhd, PUBM Quantity Surveyors Sdn Bhd. Jabatan Kerja Raya, Sarawak (JKR) is the implementing agency.
Phase 1 of this project costing RM0.7 million commences on 25 November 2009 and schedule for completion on 24 September 2010.
